Palm Oil growers selected for the test of the CMU

Rubber and oil palm smallholders will take part to the test of Universal Healthcare Coverage (CMU) progam. Moussa Dosso, the Ivorian Minister of Employment, Social Affairs and vocational training confirmed the information. These small growers are part of the five (5) selected components of the test of the project for medical care of the poor parts of Côte d’Ivoire. Each grower will pay just 1000 CFA francs per month to have health care in public hospitals.

According to Dosso Moussa, the project will begin at the end 2013 or at least 2014. This social initiative of Ivorian government has already mobilized 50 billion CFA francs. “Solidarity funding of Healthcare is necessary, but it is not sufficient to cover all the health needs of populations.” Said Dosso Moussa.

This policy of access to healthcare takes into account the rehabilitation and the renewal of the technical tools used in public hospitals. The reform of the Public Health Drugstore Agency (PSP) is also a very important point of this program.

Out of the selected farmers, three important organizations will take part to the test of the Universal Healthcare Coverage Program. These national organizations are: the Retirement Allowances Fund of Côte d’Ivoire (CGRAE), the National Social Insurance Fund (CNPS) and the Ivorian public servants and workers Mutual (MUGEFCI).
